- Create and present multiple poll types, including:
- Multiple choice, word cloud, text, numeric, rating, ranking.
- Pin-on-image and XY plot polls.
- Display before-and-after comparison and demographic splits.
- Add images to polls.
- Use quiz features such as leaderboards, speed scoring, and correct answer reveals.
- Run polls anonymously to encourage honest feedback & ensure interaction.
Poll and quiz results are automatically saved and available in the Vevox dashboard, including poll images and Excel reports with detailed voting breakdowns.
2. Limitations
- The Vevox Q&A and Survey functionalities do not work in Google Slides.
- Google Slides animations and builds are disabled while using Vevox polling inside your slide decks.
3. How to install the Vevox extension for Google Slides
Open Google Slides.
Go to Extensions > Add-ons > Get add-ons.
Search for Vevox in the Google Workspace Market place and install the add-on.
Go back to 'Extensions' and select Vevox.
Follow the prompts to sign in to Vevox and select an existing session, or create a new one.
Once installed, the Vevox sidebar opens on the right-hand side of your presentation.
4. How to create polls in Google Slides
You can create polls in three ways:
- Create polls directly from the Vevox sidebar in Google Slides (method below).
- Create polls in advance in the Vevox dashboard, then connect the session.
- Use ready-made polls from the Vevox question library(also in the sidebar).
When you create a poll in the side panel, it is automatically created in the Vevox dashboard.
5. Themes and slide appearance
When presenting using the Vevox integration:
- Standard Google Slides (non-polling slides) will display using the Google Slides theme you selected for your presentation.
- Interactive polling slides automatically display using the Vevox Present view theme.
This means your presentation can combine branded or designed content/information slides with Vevox’s interactive polling slides in the same deck.
To change the appearance of polling slides:
Open your session in the Vevox dashboard.
Go to Settings.
Select Present view and choose one of the Vevox template themes or customize your own theme.
Any changes made to the Present view theme will apply to all interactive polling slides shown in Google Slides.
6. Add polls to your slide deck
After creating your polls, you need to add them to your Google Slides presentation before you can present them.
To add polls:
From the Vevox sidebar in Google Slides, select the polls you want to present using the checkboxes.
Click the Add (+) icon.
Each poll is added as one placeholder slide in your Google Slides deck. Polling slides can be placed anywhere in your presentation, allowing you to alternate between information slides and interactive polls as needed.
Once added, the placeholder polling slides will appear in your slide deck with a warning message advising that they should not be edited or deleted manually. Editing or deleting polling slides directly in Google Slides can cause the poll to stop working.
- The more polls you add to your Google Slides deck, the longer they may take to load in the presentation.
- As soon as you present your polls through the Vevox present button, the placeholder slide will convert to an interactive poll.
7. Add joining instructions
To allow participants to join your session, add a Vevox joining instructions slide to your presentation.
In the Vevox sidebar, click (+) Add joining instructions.
A slide containing the QR code and session ID is added to your deck.
Move this slide to the start of your presentation, or wherever it best fits your flow.
The joining instructions automatically adapt to most Google Slides themes. If text or the QR code overlaps with your slide design, you can reposition the elements directly on the slide to improve layout and readability.
8. Edit, duplicate, move, or delete polls
You can manage polls directly from the Vevox sidebar. Use the three-dots next to a poll to edit, move, duplicate, or delete it. Polls should always be edited before being added to the slide deck.
To edit a poll if it has already been added to your slides:
Delete the polling slide from the slide deck.
Edit the poll in the Vevox sidebar.
Add the updated poll to the slide deck again.
To delete multiple polls at once in the side bar, select the checkboxes next to the polls and click the Delete icon. This removes the polls from:
- The Vevox sidebar.
- The Google Slides deck (if already added).
- The Vevox session in the dashboard.
9. Presenting and running polls
Always start presenting using the Vevox Present button in the Vevox sidebar. Do not use the default Google Slides Present button, as polls will not activate.
You can choose to present:
- From the beginning, or
- From the current slide
Navigate through slides using the right arrow on your keyboard or the on-screen control bar.
During presentation, you can:
- Open and close polls as you progress through polling slides.
- Enlarge the QR code so participants can easily scan and join (only on the Present View slide).
- Enlarge images or word clouds by clicking on them.
Poll controls and result display
From the Vevox control bar, you can:
- Turn live results on or off.
- Activate a countdown timer with sound.
- Change result display formats (for example, bar, pie, or list, where available).
- Reveal the correct answer for quiz questions.
- Display leaderboards or speed scoring (trophy icon).
- Reopen a poll if it was closed too early or if late participants join.
- Run before and after comparisons or demographic splits.
10. Saving and accessing results
After your presentation you can access the poll results from:
- The Google Slides deck (in present mode only).
- Full reports are available in the Vevox dashboard.
- You can export all poll images or download Excel reports with detailed voting breakdowns for report back meetings and feedback documents.
If you want to save the polling results, create a new copy of the slide deck for your next presentation. You can also reset your polling results in the Vevox dashboard to keep the session history stored.
11. Clearing the poll results
You can clear the poll results if you want to re-run the same polls:
From the Vevox side bar, select one or more polls.
Click the Clear results icon.
This clears voting data from both Google Slides and the Vevox dashboard.
12. Switching Vevox sessions
A slide deck with polling slides must remain connected to the same Vevox session.
- Switching to a different session removes all existing polling slides from the deck.
- Polls from different sessions cannot be combined in the same Google Slides presentation by switching between different sessions.
If you want to use additional polls from another session in one slide deck, export them from the Vevox dashboard and import them into the active session before adding them to your slide deck.
13. Testing your polls before presenting
It is recommended to test your polls before presenting to a live audience.
Open a participant app from the Vevox dashboard or by visiting vevox.app and entering your session ID.
Start the Google Slides presentation using the Vevox Present button.
Vote through your polls as you progress through the slides.
After testing, clear the results using the Vevox sidebar.
This ensures your polls are ready for your live session.
Remember the following:
- For easy testing, position the Vevox participant app next to your Google Slides window so you can see exactly what participants will see while you are presenting.
- When displaying standard (non-polling) Google Slides content, nothing will appear in the participant app until you reach a polling slide.
- Depending on the participant’s screen size, they may need to use the scroll bar to view the full poll or access the Send button.
- To ensure all test votes have been cleared, open your session in the Vevox dashboard, go to the Data tab, and confirm that results have been removed.

A Google Slides deck can only be connected to one Vevox session at a time.
However, you can connect multiple slide decks to the same Vevox session.
