Simply click here to sign up, it takes two minutes and provides instant access. No credit card or payment information is required. You can also sign up for free at vevox.com.
What equipment do I need to run Vevox?
The only equipment you will need to set up and run your Vevox session is a computer with internet connection. If you are presenting your session online or through a webcast platform, then you will also need webcast software. No other hardware is needed.
Should you present in front of a live audience, you will also need a projector and computer connector to the projector. A microphone is also advisable to ensure your audience can hear you clearly.
I want to create a poll. How does it work and how do my participants answer?
You first need to sign up for a free Vevox account.
Once you have signed in, you can immediately start setting up polling questions or use our pre-programmed questions. Read the instructions on how to create a poll.
Once you have created your questions you must activate your polling by changing the session status to ‘Start’. Now your polling session is active and participants can join the session.
Share your screen with your participants in Present view or in a PowerPoint presentation. The first slide will always show the joining instructions for participants by providing a 9-digit Session ID or a QR code depending on your settings.
Your participants can now use their mobile devices to join your Vevox session and start participating in the polling. Should your participants not wish to join the session with their mobile devices, they can also join in from a computer screen logging in with their browser.
How do I create my first poll?
After you have signed up for a Vevox account you will be asked to set up your first Vevox session or meeting.
From the dashboard, you will have the option to create a session. When you select this option, you can give your session a name and then go ahead to enter your first question.
There are a couple of different question options depending on what type of plan you have. You can choose between multiple choice, rating, numeric, text, word cloud questions, using images in polls, LaTex questions and the XY Plot. The Q&A message board is available to all plans.
Follow these instructions to create your first question or watch this Getting Started video.
How do I invite participants?
Inviting participants to your Vevox session is easy. There are two ways you can invite your participants to join your session. You can either invite them:
- Using a 9-digit Session ID, or
- Using a QR code
See the step-by-step instructions on how to invite participants.
How do I start a session as a host?
Once you have populated your session with your polls & questions (it could be your own questions or you can use our pre-programmed sample questions) you need to activate your session before your participants will be able to join or see the questions. You can have your session in a start, stop or waiting state. When you first create a new session, it will always be in the waiting state. Be sure to change your meeting status to ‘started’ before polling commences. Read more about the different session status options.
How do I run a poll?
You can either run your polling in a display to your participants by using Present view or by using your PowerPoint Add-in in PowerPoint (for Mac & Android users).
In Present view – you will be using your control bar at the bottom of the screen to open, close, show results or move on to the next question.
If you use PowerPoint, you can simply enter slideshow mode and run your presentation as you would normally do with the enter button or a click of your mouse.
How do I show Q&A?
The Q&A message board is available to all plans. From your dashboard, you select the Q&A option on the left main menu. From here, you can select to have the Q&A board activated on or off. Also, the moderation option for the Q&A can be selected at this point. You will be asked to ‘send an announcement to the Q&A board’.
Your typed up Q&A announcement will appear in the Vevox session as soon as the session is started. Your participants will notice a red dot indicating a new unread message on the speech bubble option in the middle of the information and survey icons. Q&A will now be open and all participants can type ideas, opinions or concerns via the Q&A message board. Read more detail instructions on how to show Q&A to your participants.
Can I send people questions they can complete in their own time?
For sure. If you want your participants to complete a questionnaire in their own time and at their own pace use the ‘Survey’ functionality. You can even send a self-paced quiz with scoring. Note that this functionality is not available for FREE accounts.
How many polls can I ask?
You can have an unlimited number of polls in your session. For free accounts, you will only be able to use the multiple-choice and Latex type of poll. To be able to ask rating, numeric, text polls, word clouds, add images in polls, XY Plot, self-paced quizzes & surveys you will need to upgrade your account. (To upgrade, from your Vevox dashboard click ‘Account’ and choose the plan that works for you - you can pay via credit card and gain access instantly.)
How to share a session with an organizer, moderator, collaborator or a colleague.
Do you want the assistance of a colleague or organizer to help you present your polls or moderate your Q&A sessions? You can easily invite another person or user to join your session. This person will be able to view, edit or control your session from another device. Follow these steps when sharing your session with another party.
How do presenters or hosts push messages to participant devices?
For a host, it can be important to communicate messages/announcements to participants during sessions and send it to their devices. It works similar to sending a text message; type in a message, press send and the message will appear in the Vevox Q&A message board. Announcements will always appear in black on participant device screens so they can stand out from the rest.
You can send announcements anytime to your participants by entering them in the Q&A section in your dashboard. Your first announcement will appear on the joining slide in Present view (unless you have previously set up a customized welcome message) as well as in the Q&A board on participant devices.
Where do I share the class or meeting session agenda?
When you set up your session, you can add an agenda or meeting session breakdown so your participants know what to expect. This agenda or session breakdown will be visible to all participants on their mobile devices as soon as they log in on the home screen of the app.
