A common additional use of Vevox is to track and report on class attendance. Whether your classes are conducted online, in a hybrid format, or in person, here are 4 effective methods to achieve attendance tracking with Vevox.
To enable class attendance tracking your Vevox session must have participant identification enabled. Read this article on how to set up identification.
Despite having identification set to 'Identified,' students retain the option to contribute anonymously, in their participation. Individual poll responses remain confidential, as their votes are only being displayed as group votes and averages. Additionally, students have the choice to submit questions anonymously on the Q&A board.
Tip 1: Make it quick & easy
No more swiping student cards or managing lengthy class lists. Streamline the process by using a simple multichoice poll with a straightforward question like, "Are you present?"
Add this yes/no poll into your presentation whenever you're using Vevox for student participation or interaction.
Tip 2: Check physical presence
Goodbye manual tick boxes and hello automated attendance lists. To verify a student’s physical presence in the room, present a word or short number sequence on the screen and ask students to enter it as either a Text or Numeric question type.
Set the correct answer to the question for the word or number sequence to create easy identification of respondents in the data report.
Tip 3: Use technology to your advantage
Get integrated reporting. If you are using the LTI 1.3 integration with your LMS, the result of the above polls can be fed back into your LMS for easy analysis. This will ensure an overview of attendance data directly within your LMS.
Tip 4: Plan with the End in Sight
Late arrivals are a common occurrence in any class or lecture, and it's essential to accommodate them in attendance tracking. Consider posing attendance tracking questions at the end of the class to ensure inclusivity for latecomers. Alternatively, asking a question both at the beginning and end of the class can provide a more comprehensive and robust tracking data report.
FAQ
