What is Spin the Wheel?
Spin the Wheel is Vevox’s virtual spinning wheel — a fun, randomizer tool that helps you make decisions, announce winners, or select actions during classes, training, or meetings.
The wheel is divided into customizable segments, each representing a different outcome (e.g., a prize, a name, or an idea). Once you hit Spin, the wheel turns, slows, and lands on a random segment. The build-up of suspense keeps everyone watching until the final result is revealed — fair, instant, and exciting.
Why use Spin the Wheel?
Spin the Wheel adds energy and anticipation to any session. The spinning animation and sound effects keep participants focused and engaged.
Because outcomes are completely random, everyone has an equal chance to be chosen or win — boosting fairness and fun. Whether you’re choosing a student to answer a question, assigning a task, or giving out prizes, this interactive element brings a game-show feel to your session.
This feature is available on Pro plans and up. If you want to use Spin the Wheel, please upgrade your account.
Examples of where to use Spin the Wheel
Spin the Wheel can be used in a variety of settings — from classrooms to corporate meetings — for both serious and lighthearted moments:
- Student selection: Randomly choose who answers next, leads a discussion, or presents.
- Team task rotation: Decide which group will handle weekly chores like tidying up, restocking, or admin duties.
- Prizes and giveaways: Announce instant winners at events or year-end functions.
- Education and training: Randomly pick discussion topics, project themes, or deadlines.
- Promotions and marketing: Offer discounts, special access, or bonus rewards.
- Games and entertainment: Add spontaneity to icebreakers, Truth or Dare, or team-building sessions.
How to set up Spin the Wheel
Go to Polls in the main navigation menu.
Click + Add Content.
Select Spin the Wheel from the Non-polling content section.
Add your title or statement.
Enter your list of items — such as names, actions, or topics. Use the three dots beside each item to edit, move, duplicate or delete them.
Click Create. Your wheel will appear in the dashboard, ready to present.
How to display Spin the Wheel
Open Present View and select Next content in the control bar to display your Spin the Wheel.
Click 'Spin' and wait for the wheel to stop.
When the wheel lands on a segment:
- You can select the chosen item as the winner (and close the result), or
- Continue eliminating items until you’re left with a final winner. Use Remove before each new spin to take out the previous result.
Close the poll once you are finished by pressing the stop icon.
You can 'Reset' the wheel at any time to start over.
You can spin the wheel from either the dashboard or Present View.
Sound
The Spin the Wheel soundtrack plays automatically as the wheel spins and stops when the spin ends. It cannot be turned off. If you’re in an online meeting (e.g., Teams, Zoom, or Webex), make sure your computer sound is shared so participants can hear it and enjoy the suspense.
In Teams, click Share, then toggle Include sound before sharing your screen. You can also enable this option anytime after screen sharing begins.
What participants see
Participants see only the spinning wheel — not the item labels. The chosen result is revealed once the spin ends. Only the host can control and spin the wheel.
Additional notes:
- No character limits for titles or item text.
- Up to 100 items can be added (for clarity, fewer is better. We suggest max 20 for visual impact).
- If an item name is too long, it will be shortened with an ellipsis on the wheel.
- You can review winners later in your dashboard.[Check this]
- Spin the Wheel works in Teams and Zoom integrations but not in PowerPoint.
- Images cannot be added to wheel items.
- Since this is non-polling content, results do not appear in data reports.
- To save the final spin result visually, take a screenshot in the dashboard.
