What is non-polling presentation content?
Present View is our preferred display for showing polls, Q&A, and quizzes to your audience. It also gives you full control to manage your session. But beyond interactive content, Present View also supports non-polling presentation content—helping you provide important context, structure, or visuals throughout your session.
Use non-polling content in your session to set the scene, indicate a break between topics, or share additional insights before or after a poll or Q&A. It can be placed anywhere in your presentation content.
Non-polling content is also supported in our Teams & Zoom Integrations.
What Can You Display?
Non-polling presentation displays allows you to show:
- Coffee break or holding slides
- Quiz round intros or split round instructions
- Lecture notes or key concepts
- Section headers for agenda changes or topic breaks
- Charts, graphs, flowcharts, timelines (JPG or PNG)
- To-do lists and next steps
- Highlights and blockers
- Panel member names, partner logos
- Assignment due dates, reading lists, QR codes, or external resources
- And many more
Tips for Managing non-polling Content
- You can easily add non-polling content in between your polls to best suit your presentation needs.
- If you have lots of content, split it into multiple presentation displays for easier navigation.
- Alternatively, use your mouse to scroll up or down in Present view to reveal all content.
- Images can be displayed small or expanded to full width for visual impact.
- For the best display experience, keep text lengths similar to standard presentation slides.
- When using Present view, navigate between your polls and non-polling content using the control bar at the bottom of the screen. Pressing the Play button will advance to the next content display item. If it’s a non-polling content slide, it won’t launch a poll—instead, it will simply show your text, image, or video as intended.
How to create non-polling presentation displays
In your session, go to the Polling menu and click ‘+ Add Content’.
Choose Presentation Content from the content selection modal.
Add your content: paste text, upload an image, add a YouTube video, or use LaTeX notation.
Use rich text formatting like:
-
-
- Bold, italics, underline
- Bulleted or numbered lists
- Left, center, or right alignment
- Headers and paragraph spacing
-
Display your presentation content in Present view as you would normally do by using the control bar. When a non-polling presentation content appears, press the play option and then move on to the next presentation content item.
1. Adding Text
Paste your content just like you would in PowerPoint or a Word document. From the content editor, use headings, bullet points, and formatting to make it clear.
Character limit: Unlimited. But we suggest keeping the content displays short and impactful—less is more.
Links are not supported in the presentation content.
2. Adding Videos
Only YouTube videos are supported—other video formats are not compatible. To avoid overlapping audio from multiple devices, videos will not appear in the participant app. Instead, participants will receive a prompt on their devices that the host is playing a video. All Videos must be started manually from Present view by clicking the Play button, or from the Present view preview in the dashboard.
For the best visual experience, include just one video per content display, ideally without any accompanying text.
3. Adding Images
You have three ways to add an image:
From the content editor, click on the image icon and upload your image.
- Use our Unsplash Library with free stock images
- Upload your own image
- Reuse an image from your Image Library
Image Size Options:
When you add an image, decide whether to make the image a percentage of the presentation display (a smaller display) or set up the image so that it covers the majority of the display (a full-width display). You can always scroll down as well.
- For a full-width display - add the image, double-click on the image, and select the full-width tickbox. Then, display the image in Present view. To remove full width, click on the enlarged image in the content editor. The ‘Full width’ option will appear again. Untick the box to resize it to a smaller size.
- For a smaller display - Add the image by clicking on the image icon and add. The image will now appear in a smaller display format. (Add text if needed.)
When sharing non-polling content in Present view, images cannot be enlarged by clicking on them during the presentation—this feature is only available for images included in polls. To ensure the best visual experience, make sure you select the appropriate image display size when setting up your non-polling content.
You can upload GIFs as images, and alt text can be added during the upload process to support accessibility. Be sure to test your GIFs beforehand, as some may have restrictions that prevent them from playing correctly in Present view.
You can use images alone or with accompanying text. Wrapping text around images is not supported.
4. Adding LaTeX notation
You can use LaTeX notation in non-polling presentation content to display mathematical equations & scientific formulas. This is especially useful for educational sessions, STEM-focused presentations, or when you need to explain complex expressions. Simply paste your LaTeX code into the content editor, and it will render the right LaTeX in Present view. LaTeX can also be added to the correct answer explanation. Remember to start with $$ and then paste your code. Add another $$ at the end of your code. The same way you do when using LaTex in polls.
Note: Our support for LaTeX uses the KaTeX javascript library and the mhchem library extensions.
Editing & viewing non-polling content in the dashboard
Edit your content when it is already visible in Present view
To edit your non-polling content, from the dashboard, select the three dots next to the presentation content item, select 'Edit', and make changes. Press 'Save'. All changes will immediately reflect in the dashboard and Present view.
Edit your content when it is not yet visible in Present view
If the content is not yet shown in Present view, and you click the three dots next to the presentation content item, you can edit, move, duplicate, or delete the presentation content item from the dashboard.
Show your content in Present view
The dashboard makes it easy to identify the type of each presentation display—whether it's a poll, video, image-only, or text-based content (with or without images). Interactive polls feature an 'Open poll' button, while non-polling items show a 'Show Content' option for launching them directly from the dashboard. To display content to your participants, click 'Present Fullscreen' or 'Open Present view in a new tab'. Select 'Show content'. When you're ready to move on, click 'Dismiss' to close the current display—Present view will return to the holding slide until the next content item is shown.
Keep an eye on the Present view preview in the top right of the dashboard—it mirrors exactly what your participants are seeing. When you click 'Show Content', this preview updates in real time. Just like in Present view, you can click on images in polls to enlarge them, and click again to return to the smaller view.
However, most session hosts prefer to use the control bar in Present view to run their polls and move on to the next content display.
