Why do some of my word cloud responses not appear?
There could be three possible reasons why my word cloud responses do not appear:
-
-
Profanity filter - Vevox has a built-in profanity filter to automatically filter out some unsavory words. By default, this is enabled for all sessions. This functionality can however be turned off. For word cloud questions, if a participant response contains an abusive word, then the word will be filtered out. But if it was a phrase submitted with an abusive word, then the whole phrase will be removed.
-
Word frequency – the more a word is submitted by the participants the bigger the word will appear in the word cloud. If you have a large audience the less frequently used words might not appear on the word cloud due to lack of space. All words submitted no matter the frequency will still be available in the reporting functionality.
-
Showing results - The default setting for Vevox is that results will shown on poll close. In other words, when a poll is started, the results submitted will be hidden until the poll is closed to not sway any participants answers by showing them what other participants voted. When using custom poll settings, you change the default setting & turn on dynamic voting (or real-time results), the results for all polls will appear as participants are busy voting. This is an excellent way of showing how the word cloud grows bigger. If you are asking a word cloud but want all other results to show on poll close, you can open the word cloud poll in Present view and then press the ‘show results’ button in the control bar once. The word cloud will now show the dynamic update as the responses come in. Word cloud dynamic response updates are also now available in PowerPoint.
