In this article we cover:
Here are a few tips on how to take part in a Vevox meeting or session.
1. How do I access a Vevox session?
- Go to Vevox.app in any browser on your mobile device, tablet or on your computer.
- Enter the Session ID provided by the session host/presenter/lecturer. Or scan the QR code that are on screen.
The session host can also provide a direct link so participants open the link and dive straight into the session. No session ID needed. The link can look like this: https://vevox.app/#/m/123456789
All sessions are set to anonymous by default. There is no way of knowing who is who when using your device. But the presenter does have the ability to change this if they want. If the profiles setting is switched to identified, Vevox will ask you for a first and last name, after you enter the 9-digit Session ID. It will look like this:
2. What will I see when logged in?
When you log in you will see the following, depending on what has been set up by your session host.
- The home icon is where your welcome message will appear. As soon as the first poll is opened up all live voting will appear under the home icon.
- The speech bubble is where all Q&A comments, ideas and questions will appear in the Q&A board. If you do not see a speech bubble, your Q&A board is turned off by your session host.
- The clipboard indicates if there is a survey to be completed and will have a red dot. These surveys can stay open for as long as your session host requires.
You will stay logged in for the duration of the session until the host closes the session.
You can navigate between the different functionality as much as you want to and come back again to the home, then survey or the Q&A board etc.
3. How do I vote in live polling?
The polls will automatically appear on your phone/laptop/tablet when the presenter opens each poll. It will then ask you to submit your answer. Select your relevant choice. There will be an instruction on your screen to tell you:
- if your vote was submitted automatically,
- if you need to press 'Send' to submit your answer or
- if you want to change the answer press the clear button.
Once the poll is closed your results will appear on your participant app. The profile icon will indicate what you have answered and the correction mark what the actual correct answer is to the poll. There might be a correct answer explanation as well. When no amalgamated results appear, if might be that your session host has chosen not to share any live results.
You session host might display some content that are not live polls. Or even videos. Note that videos will not display in the participant app.
4. How do I use the Q&A board?
The main way to ask questions as a participant is through the Q&A message board. To access the Q&A board, click on the middle icon on your screen that looks like a speech bubble. (If there is a red dot next to the speech bubbles, it means that there are new messages.)
Depending on the session settings set up by the host, you can choose to send the messages as anonymous or identified.
You will find the space to type your message/comment/ideas or questions at the top of your device screen. When set up by the host you can add labels to your comments before sending it. Press the 'Arrow' when you are finished typing and ready to send the message to the Q&A board for all to see. Use the ‘thumbs up or thumbs down icon’ indicate your agreement or disagreement with other participant comments.
You can also sort your own Q&A board by most recent or most like. Alternatively, when your Q&A board is very busy, filter it to show only:
- messages that you have submitted,
- messages with replies on them
- or all messages in the Q&A board.
5. How do I answer a quiz?
Answering a quiz works the same way as answering live polls; the only difference is that you will be scored on each answer you submit.
Quizzes can be anonymous, but in most cases, will be identified so that the winners can be clearly displayed. This depends on your session set up by the host where you either just joined the session anonymously, or you were required to enter your name and surname when joining.
Quizzes can also include fastest finger scoring, as well as countdown timers that add to the excitement of the event. And if set up prior, the quiz will also reveal the correct answer and an explanation of the correct answer. Great for testing knowledge and education scenario’s.
Each participant will see their own individual score displayed on their device when the host reveals it, while the leaderboard will list the winners. If you were allocated into a Team, a Team leaderboard will be displayed.
6. How do I answer a survey?
A survey are polls that can be answered in your own time and at your own pace (in other words no live polling). When the survey has been created and ‘started’ by the presenter, it will appear in the clipboard icon on your screen ready for you to answer. Your presenter will let you know if there is a certain time/date that you need to give your answers by. Simply click on your selected answer and look out for the ‘Submit’ button at the end of the survey.
You can go back and edit your answers while the survey is still open and re-submit it.
A self-paced quiz will also appear here. This means you will be scored on the questions and will be able to see the correct answers after completion.
Once the survey has been stopped/closed by the session host, it will disappear from your login screen and no more answers will be accepted.
