Brightspace (D2L) LTI 1.3 - Installation Guide

This set up requires you to be an Account Administrator of your Vevox account with an Institutional plan and you will also need to be an administrator of your Brightspace account. 

1. In your Vevox dashboard go to Account > Admin Settings > LTI.
2. Select 'Create New' and choose 'Other'.
3. You should see a screen like the one in the below image.
   
   • Enter a Platform name, for example Brightspace, and press SAVE.
4. Open the deployment you just saved again by clicking the pencil icon. You will need this information later.
5. In Brightspace under Admin Tools, navigate to Manage Extensibility
   • Select Register Tool   
6. Fill in the following details
   • How would you like to register your tool: Standard
   • Enabled: true (switch on)
   • Name: Vevox
   • Domain: https://lti-api.vevox.com 
   • Redirect URL’s: copy the 'Vevox target link' link from the LTI deployment section in your Vevox dashboard
   • Open IDConnect Login URL: copy the 'Vevox OIDC initiation URL' link from the LTI deployment section in your Vevox dashboard
   • Target Link URI: copy the 'Vevox target link' link from the LTI deployment section in your Vevox dashboard
   • Keyset URL: copy the 'Vevox JWKS URL' link from the LTI deployment section in your Vevox dashboard
   • Extensions:
     • Assignment and Grade services
     • Deep linking
7. When finished press Register
8. On completion you will be presented with the Brightspace Registration details. Copy these details into the relevant fields in your Vevox Dashboard.
   • Client ID -> Client ID
   • Brightspace Keyset URL -> JWKS endpoint
   • Brightspace OAuth2 Access Token URL -> Token endpoint
   • OpenID Connect Authentication Endpoint -> Authorization endpoint
   • Issuer -> ISS
   • (Deployment ID will be entered in a later step)
9. Click Done
10. In your Brightspace dashboard under the Admin Tools, navigate to External Learning Tools and create a New Deployment
    • Enabled: True
    • Auto Migrate Links: False
    • Tool: The registered tool you just created
    • Name: Vevox
    • Description: (Optional)
    • Extensions:
      • Assignment and Grade Services
      • Deep Linking
11. In the security settings of the deployment make sure to check the following settings:
    • Org Unit Information
    • User Information
      • Name
        • First Name
        • Middle Name
        • Last Name
      • Email
      • User ID
      • Username
      • Org Defined ID
    • Link Information
      • Title
      • Description
12. And under configuration settings
    • Grades created by LTI will be included in Final Grade (Optional)
    • Auto Create Grade Items
13. Add Org Units
    • Add the org units and/or correct org unit setting to where the deployment should show.
14. After saving this deployment you should get a Deployment ID.  This can also now be entered into the Vevox settings screen on your Vevox dashboard.
15. The last thing to do is create a link that you can use when adding Vevox to your course content. Open your newly created deployment, scroll to the bottom of the page, and click on 'View Links'.
16. Click 'New Link'
17. Fill in the following details
    • Name: Vevox
    • URL: copy the 'Vevox target link' link from the LTI deployment section in your Vevox dashboard
    • Type: 'Deep Linking Quicklink'
18. Save and Close the window
