Speed scoring, or fastest finger, is available to Presenter plans and up. If you would like to upgrade, click here.
When activating the speed leaderboard, the individual providing the correct and fastest responses earns the highest score. The speed leaderboard adds an additional column indicating the time the respondent took to submit all their correct responses.
Enabling speed scoring ensures a clear winner and avoids ties on the leaderboard. The scoring is precise to a 1000th of a second and can include up to three decimal places if necessary. If a participant responds the quickest but provides an incorrect answer, they won't receive a score for that specific question.
By default, speed scoring is turned off and can be activated in the settings menu.
When you do not have any correct answers to your polls there are no scores or timing.
Although the breakdown of speed scoring times per poll is not included in the data report, a clear winner can still be seen in PowerPoint.
In this article we cover:
- How to turn on speed scoring
- How to display speed leaderboard in PowerPoint
- What you see in the PowerPoint Presentation & participant app
How to turn on speed scoring
Select the 'Settings' option in the main navigation on the left-hand side.
Choose the 'Features tab' and toggle the ‘Speed scoring’ button to on. Then click 'Save'.
How to display the speed leaderboard
When adding your polls to your PowerPoint slides, decide where you would like to add a leaderboard to your presentation. It could be at the end of the quiz or throughout the presentation.
Present your polls as normal. When you advance to the leaderboard slide, the speed leaderboard will automatically display, indicating the first 5 winners & time on the leaderboard.
In the example below, Maizie, Howard & Arman scored 3 out of 3 but Maizie was quicker. Even though Daniel has a time of 18 seconds (quicker than Maizie’s 27 seconds), he only answered 1 poll correctly.
What you see in PowerPoint & on the participant app
The speed leaderboard will show the names (if identified) along with their cumulative fastest finger timing, corresponding to their positions. In this scenario, a definite winner can be determined based on timing, even if the number of correct answers is the same.
If the quiz was set to anonymous, the names will be replaced by the word participant. Individuals will still see their own score position on their device.
The speed leaderboard display:
- The ranking/positions
- The times it took to answer all the polls (only correct answers receive a time)
- The average score for the quiz
- The number of participants taking part in the quiz
The participant app will display:
In the correct answer screen (left)
- What you have voted (human icon next to the answer option)
- The correct answer with the correction mark
- How long you took to respond to that poll
- Correct answer explanation if it was set up for that poll
- Three fastest correct respondents for that specific poll - this person voted the fastest.
In the speed leaderboard screen (right):
- You ranking/position
- What your score was
- The cumulative time it took you to answer all the polls
- The number of participants taking part in the quiz
- The group average for the quiz so far
- The three fastest correct answers and time
