What is the PowerPoint Online embed feature?
Vevox's Present view now supports embedding a PowerPoint Online presentation directly into your session. This means you can display your slides from within Present view — alongside your polls, Q&A board, and announcements — without switching between windows or applications.
This option is ideal if you:
-
Already have a PowerPoint presentation with all your content and animations
set up and don’t want to embed polls directly into the slides — no copying
or reformatting of PowerPoint needed!
-
Want to use Vevox Q&A (Q&A isn’t currently supported in the PowerPoint Add-in — only polling is).
-
Prefer to manage your slides, polling, and Q&A in one unified display.
-
Are running a face-to-face, hybrid, or online session and want a seamless audience experience.
This feature uses PowerPoint Online (the web-based version of PowerPoint via OneDrive or Microsoft 365). It is separate from the Vevox PowerPoint Add-in, which works in the PowerPoint desktop app (license needed.) If you are looking for the desktop Add-in, refer to this article.
What you need before you start
Before embedding your presentation, make sure you have the following in place:
- A Microsoft account — either a personal account (OneDrive.com) or a Microsoft 365 work/school account.
- Your Vevox session already created and populated with polls and open in the dashboard.
Step 1: Get the embed link from PowerPoint Online
This is where you generate the shareable link that Vevox will use to display your slides.
Log in to your PowerPoint online account (powerpoint.office.com).
Open your PowerPoint file
Select File in the top-left menu bar.
Select Share, then choose Embed this presentation.
In the Embed dialog box, you will see a preview of your presentation and an embed code (an iframe snippet).
Under Embed Code, select Copy to copy the full embed code.
Step 2: Add the embed link to Vevox
Once you have your embed code copied from PowerPoint Online, head back to your Vevox dashboard.
In the Polls menu, click + Add Content.
From the content selection panel, choose PowerPoint Presentation under the Non-polling content section.
Paste the embed code into the field provided.
Indicate what slide the presentation must start from – the default is 1. (This will change when you embed the same presentation multiple times in your Vevox session in between your polls).
Click Create.
Your embedded PowerPoint will now appear as a content item in your session, alongside your polls and other presentation content. Move the PowerPoint online embed content to where you need it, in the right sequence, so your presentation slides appear between the Vevox polls.
Step 3: Display your presentation in Present view
With your presentation added to the session, you are ready to go live.
Click Present Fullscreen or Open Present view in a new tab from the right top of the dashboard.
Use the control bar at the bottom of Present view to navigate through your session content.
When you reach your embedded PowerPoint content item, it will load your presentation directly in Present view. This might take a couple of seconds.
Use the arrow controls within the embedded presentation to advance your slides as you would normally do in PowerPoint. Mouse clicks also enable bullet-point builds and start your videos.
When you are done with your slides and want to move to a poll, use the Vevox control bar to switch to your next content item, poll or Q&A board.
Use the expand icon in Present view to enlarge the presentation display.
What your participants see
-
When you display your embedded PowerPoint Online in Present view, participants will see your slides on the main presentation screen — the same screen used to display poll results and the Q&A board.
-
The embedded PowerPoint does not appear inside participant apps.
Tips for the best experience

What to do |
| Test before you present | Open the embedded presentation in Present view ahead of your session to confirm it loads correctly and that all slides display as intended. Read our testing guide for a full walkthrough. |
| Keep your presentation simple and uncluttered | Present view is optimised for live sessions — slides that are clean and legible work best on a large projected screen or shared display. |
| Combine with polls and Q&A for maximum engagement | Add polls between key sections of your presentation to gather instant feedback, test understanding, or simply energise your audience. Or use the Vevox Q&A board. Switch between your slides and your polls seamlessly using the Vevox control bar. |
| Check your animations | Not all PowerPoint animations are supported in the web viewer. Test any click-through animations before going live to confirm they behave as expected. |
Troubleshooting
This usually means you are not signed in to Microsoft or you do not have the permissions to access the PowerPoint presentation. If the PowerPoint file has not been shared with your Microsoft account then you will not be able to access it. Seek the owner of the PPT file and make sure they share it with your Microsoft account.
This can happen if your Microsoft 365 organisation has disabled the embed feature for external sharing. Try using a personal OneDrive account (onedrive.live.com) instead of a work or school account, which typically has fewer restrictions.
The embedded presentation is controlled by the navigation controls within the PowerPoint viewer, not the Vevox control bar. Look for the left and right arrow buttons that appear when you hover over the embedded presentation in Present view. You can also use your mouse to click on the PowerPoint presentation to advance or activate transitions.
PowerPoint Online supports most — but not all — animations. Complex entrance effects or triggers may not render the same way as in the desktop version of PowerPoint. Simplify your animations or test them beforehand and adjust where needed.
The embedded PowerPoint cannot go in full screen as Vevox’s Present view is already in full screen mode. Therefor it will render a smaller display area. Do use the expand icon to enlarge your display area in Present view.
