Whether you’re running a virtual meeting, class or conference, broadcasting a webinar to an audience or sharing a video resource for live learning, video can now be embedded into the Vevox Web App with a URL embed link.
If you want your participants to have a seamless experience to easily view your video and take part in Vevox polls or Q&A all from the Vevox App, then this easy-to-use Webcast feature will help you to do just that.
This integration works with:
- YouTube live stream
- Vimeo Live/Livestream
- Facebook Live
- IBM Cloud Video (formerly Ustream)
How to add live video to the Vevox App?
Create your live video on your chosen video platform. For most video platforms you will have a URL link that you will provide your participants to join the broadcast with. You will need to copy this URL link.
For live video streaming (e.g. YouTube live, Facebook live): If you’re using a live video streaming site such as YouTube, you will need to copy the embed link. For YouTube you can find this by going to ‘share’, ‘embed’ and by copying the embed link that looks like this for YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/embed/N_fH58LsmdY.
For YouTube, your link should always start with ‘https’ and should have the /embed/ text in the URL. The whole embed link should be findable in the code by finding the https between the quotation marks. Please see below for advice on other platforms.
Next go to your Vevox dashboard and make sure you have created a Vevox session. Go the ‘settings’ (three dots) on your Vevox meeting card, then click on the ‘features’ tab.
At the bottom of the features settings list, you will see the ‘Webcast’ BETA option. Now paste your video embed link into the empty field called ‘Enter webcast/webinar URL’ and click ‘save’.
Ensure that the toggle is turned to ‘ON’ to enable the webcasting feature. You can test this before your meeting or class, but you will need to ensure your video link is live and you have followed these steps.
How this looks to a participant on the Vevox Web App
Participants with mobile devices will be able to view the video in full screen and minimize the video display at any point to submit answers, ask questions, view the Q&A board or to fill in a Vevox survey. On a desktop, the participants will be able to view the video side-by-side with the Vevox App.
Live polls will automatically show on the participants device whether they are on Q&A or viewing the video.
