However, to use moderation for your Q&A session, a Pro, Enterprise, or Institution account is required.
What is Q&A?
Questions & Answers (Q&A) is a great way to make your presentations more interactive. Attendees—whether remote or in-person—can participate by submitting questions, ideas, or comments. They can also upvote or downvote others' submissions, helping to highlight the most relevant topics.
With Q&A moderation, you can ensure discussions stay on track, filter out unwanted messages, and create an inclusive environment where anonymous participation is an option. No need for raised hands—everyone gets a voice!
-
Character limits: Both participant comments and host replies are limited to 1,000 characters.
-
Board availability: The Q&A board remains open as long as the session is in Started mode. But it is can also be removed from the participant app.
6 Key Features of the Q&A Board
1. Anonymity
Participants can submit questions anonymously or with their names, depending on the Identification settings chosen by the host.
2. Sort by ‘Likes’
Incoming messages can be sorted based on the number of upvotes, making it easy to identify the most popular topics.
3. Favorite Messages
Hosts can mark important messages, ensuring key questions are highlighted and easily displayed in Present view.
4. Moderation Control
Presenters have complete control over which messages appear on the Q&A board, filtering out inappropriate or off-topic comments.
5. Announcements
Hosts can send messages directly to participants' devices, providing important updates, session logistics, or guiding discussions.
6. Replying to Questions
Hosts can respond directly to questions within the Q&A board, facilitating ongoing discussions and clarifications.
Maximizing Engagement with Q&A
For an engaging Q&A session with no awkward silences, encourage participants to:
-
Submit their questions anytime during the session.
-
Upvote questions they want answered.
-
Sort messages on their device by 'likes/upvotes,' 'most recent,' or 'messages with replies' for better navigation.

Examples of Q&A Boards
Participant View Example
The Q&A board is ON by default. When you click ‘Present’, participants will see the joining instructions and real-time questions sorted by popularity.
If time runs out, unanswered questions remain stored in data reports for later review or can be answered post-session.
Present View Example
In Present view, the Q&A board can be displayed on a big screen or shared screen, making it easier for the audience to follow along.
Using the moderation function?
How Does Moderation Work?
When Moderation is On, every participant-submitted message goes through a review process before being visible to others. This ensures only relevant and appropriate content is displayed.
Best Practices for Moderated Q&A
If using moderation, consider assigning a co-host or moderator to manage messages while you present.
A moderator can:
-
Control which messages participants can see.
-
Sort messages in Present view. Remember participants can sort their own view on their mobile devices by choosing 'most liked' or 'most recent'.
-
Add labels to categorize questions for speakers or panels.
-
Reply to questions directly within the Q&A board.
