This feature is available for Enterprise and Institutional plans only.
The Vevox profanity filter helps maintain a professional and respectful environment across word clouds, text polls, and the Q&A board. This feature is enabled by default for all accounts and sessions, but session hosts can toggle the profanity filter on or off for individual sessions based on their requirements.
The Enterprise and Institution accounts filter can be customized to align with organizational needs. This includes adding specific words or names that, while not inherently offensive, should be filtered to promote inclusivity in professional or academic settings.
Customizing the Profanity Filter
Turning On or Off the Profanity Filter
To enable or disable the filter across sessions:
Open the Settings menu.
Select Admin Settings from the dropdown.
Under the Session Defaults section, toggle the profanity filter on or off as needed.
Adding Words to the Filter
To personalize the profanity list:
Navigate to the Profanity Filter section.
Enter a word you want to filter and click +Add. (You can add words individually or paste multiple words separated by commas or new lines.)
A confirmation message will appear once the word is successfully added.
Note on Duplicates:
If you manually add a word already in the default list, the system will confirm the addition, but the word won’t appear in your manual list. However, it will be visible when you search under All Words.
Explore and Search the List:
- Use the Show Profanity List toggle to browse all 880 pre-selected words.
- View either the Default List or the Manually Added Words list.
- Search for specific words using the search box, indicating whether a word is part of the default list or was manually added.
Deleting a word from the list
To remove a word from the manual or default list, search for it and click the delete icon next to it. You can also delete multiple words simultaneously by selecting the checkbox next to each word and confirming the action.
Restore Default Settings:
You can reset the profanity list to its default settings, removing all manually added words if needed.
