- Free for participants: Students never need to create an account or pay to join a Vevox session.
- Fully online and flexible: Works seamlessly in hybrid, remote, or in-person classes.
- Easier set up: Vevox is voted the number one for 'Ease of Use' polling, survey & Q&A solution.
- Less hassle for instructors: Set up your polls, surveys, correct answers, and scoring in advance, then run them smoothly without delays on the participant app or limited question options.
Unlike iClicker, Vevox doesn’t rely on hardware remotes or screenshots. Everything runs directly in the browser, which reduces the chances of technical issues.
Bringing your iClicker content into Vevox
Moving your existing iClicker Cloud content into Vevox only takes four steps. Whether you’ve already run your polls, quizzes, and assignments—or they’re still waiting to be used—you can easily import them into the Vevox dashboard. Once moved, they’re ready to run directly in Vevox Present view or through your LMS (Canvas, Brightspace, Moodle, or Blackboard).
By using the Vevox Excel template, you can bulk import your iClicker questions. Once imported, they’ll appear in your Vevox dashboard, ready to run. This is your easiest way to switch from iClicker and mass import your polls to Vevox. Alternatively, you can copy your iClicker questions, assignments & quizzes individually and add them to the Vevox dashboard one by one.
Steps to Convert iClicker Polls to Vevox
Step 1: Collect your iClicker polls and quiz content
Before moving anything into Vevox, you’ll need to gather your iClicker questions.
iClicker Cloud doesn’t store your actual question text in its analytics—only labels like “Question 1, Question 2”. This means you can’t export full questions directly from iClicker reports. Instead, you’ll need to copy them from your course materials or presentations.
What to do:
Collect your existing iClicker polls and Quick Start quiz questions from your presentations (Google Slides, PowerPoint, Keynote, or PDF).
Decide how you want to use these questions in Vevox:
- As live polls with leaderboard and scores – import them into the Polls section in Vevox.
- iClicker Assignments & pre-created quizzes (that are asynchronous) – import them into the Survey section in Vevox.
If you want to run live polls, surveys, and self-paced quizzes for the same class, you can import the questions into separate sections within a single Vevox session for maximum flexibility.
Step 2: Download the Vevox Excel import template
From the polls section in your Vevox dashboard, click on ‘+Add content’.
Click ‘Import from a file’.
And select ‘Download sample template’. This template is pre-formatted to match Vevox’s polling structure.
Step 3: Add your iClicker questions to the Vevox template
The Vevox import template lets you copy your iClicker questions into a structured format so they can be uploaded in bulk. The first sheet contains the working template, while the second sheet has explanatory notes if you need extra guidance.
How to use the template
Delete the sample content from the template sheet.
Set the poll type in column A. (Be sure to use Vevox poll types, not iClicker names—see the conversion table below).
Copy your questions and answer choices from Google Slides, PowerPoint, Keynote, or PDF and paste them into the template following the structure:
- Column for the question
- Columns for each answer option
Add extra details where needed:
- Correct answer(s)
- Correct answer explanation (optional)
- Number of selections allowed (for multi-answer polls)
- Min/max values or decimal allowance (numeric polls)
- Ranking labels (ranking polls)
Save your template when all polls are added.
Set up in advance: In Vevox, every poll, quiz, and survey is set up in advance—including the questions, correct answers, scoring, and results display. This means you won’t have to type questions live, manually set correct answers, or stop to reveal results. When class starts, you can simply run your session seamlessly and focus on teaching—not on managing the tech.
Things to know before importing
- In Vevox there are no screenshots: Questions appear directly in the participant app (no slide screenshots or time lags to send to participant apps).
- Supported poll types for bulk import: Multiple Choice, Numeric, Word Cloud, Ranking, Text, Rating Scale. iClicker doesn’t support Ranking or Rating polls. In Vevox, you can either remove these rows or try them out!
- Answer options: Vevox MCQs, ranking & rating polls can have more or fewer than 5 choice options. Add or remove columns as needed.
- Target questions: Images aren’t imported in Excel. Add them manually if creating Pin on Image or Pin on Choice Image questions.

Additional iClicker features/modes = Vevox equivalents
Vevox offers scoring for live polling in the form of a leaderboard displayed in Present view as well as on participant devices (individual scores). This is called quizzes.
If you want scoring in an offline environment like a survey where students answer questions at their own pace and time, use the Vevox survey functionality called self-paced quizzes. Students will also be able to see the correct answer, the correct answer explanation and their individual scores after completion.

iClicker Questions / FAQs
iClicker is primarily a classroom/student response systemoriginally built around physical “clicker” remotes. More recently, iClicker Cloud allows students to respond via mobile app or browser in addition to remotes, and instructors can sync with LMS, export results, and track participation. iClicker focuses heavily on classroom analytics such as attendance reporting, grading, and advanced LMS integrations.
Vevox is fully software-based and works through the browser or Vevox app—no physical clickers needed. It offers live polling, quizzes (live or offline), attendance tracking, participation analytics, Q&A, surveys, and grade exports. Vevox emphasizes engagement analytics, such as poll participation, correct answers, survey completion, Q&A upvotes, and sentiment analysis. Scores from polls, surveys, or quizzes can sync to LMS platforms like Canvas, Blackboard, Brightspace, and Moodle. In Vevox, instructors can decide whether scoring is based on participation, performance, or both.
Yes. Vevox tracks who attends and participates in classes, lectures, or training sessions. This helps monitor attendance, engagement, and identify frequent absences. Attendance data is available through the Attendees tab in the Data section of the dashboard.
All session activities—including live polling, quizzes, surveys, and Q&A—can be set up in the Vevox dashboard and linked to LMS platforms.
iClicker, on the other hand, makes attendance tracking a core feature. Instructors can export session results, view participation trends, track absences, and sync results to LMS gradebooks.
iClicker Events let instructors run polls without requiring participants to create an iClicker account. This is ideal for one-off sessions where tracking individual performance isn’t needed. iClicker Events have been successfully used with up to 1,500 participants.
Vevox provides similar functionality. Students or participants do not need to create a Vevox account to join live polling, surveys, quizzes, or Q&A. Participation is free. However, if you want to sync scores for grading or participation to your LMS, students must log in via the LMS or use SAML SSO.
Vevox sessions can support up to 5,000 participants, making it ideal for large lectures, events, or training sessions.
iClicker Cloud works with almost any presentation software. It doesn’t require a plugin and instead screen-shares or captures the window when launching polls sending screenshots to the participant app.
Vevox offers its own Present View for displaying live polls, quizzes, or Q&A. Questions in Present view are reflected on the participant app automatically creating a synced student experience. You can also integrate Vevox directly with PowerPoint 365, Teams, Zoom, or Webex for a seamless experience.
Both iClicker and Vevox support AI-assisted question creation to reduce workload.
- Vevox offers unlimited AI-generated quiz questions. You can provide prompts, upload course content, or ask for source references. AI questions can be created as multiple-choice, numeric, or ranking polls.
- iClicker supports AI-generated questions, but only in multiple-choice format.
Tools like Vevox, Mentimeter, Poll Everywhere, and Kahoot provide similar interactive features. The big difference is that Vevox is fully device-based, with no need for extra hardware, and it integrates directly into PowerPoint.
Vevox is the top alternative for institutions and instructors wanting to move away from clicker hardware. Vevox offers live polling, quizzes, and Q&A that work on any device, with added features like anonymity and advanced reporting.
Yes. While there’s no one-click import, you can copy your questions, assignments or quizzes and then re-upload (using a Vevox template for mass import) or rebuild them in Vevox. This guide shows you step by step how to do it.
