Correct answers can be set for Multichoice polls, Numeric polls, Pin on Image & Pin on Choice polls, Ranking polls and Text polls.
1. To set the correct answer do the following:
Create your poll.
Set the correct answer(s) by selecting 'Set Correct Answer' next to the choices.
Press 'Save'.
Correct answers introduce an extra step when you are controlling the poll. You can decide to show the correct answer on the participant devices or to skip to the next poll.
2. Correct answer explanation
Beyond sharing the correct answer, providing an explanation or background information can be essential. This is particularly valuable when assessing knowledge, conducting quizzes, or educating participants. Adding a correct answer explanation is optional; if you choose not to, leave the explanation box blank. Once configured, the explanation will automatically show in the Present view alongside the polling question and in the participant app after the poll is closed and you've opted to display the correct answer.
To set up the correct answer explanation:
Create your poll.
Set the correct answer(s) by selecting 'Set Correct Answer' next to the choices.
Then scroll down to the 'Correct Answer Explanation' box and type in your response. You can also use the rich text formatting for the explanation including bold, Italics, underlined, carriage return, Latex notations, bullets & numbering.
Press 'Create'.
For PowerPoint we suggest adding an additional slide with a text box showing the correct answer explanation.
3. Correct answers in Ranking polls
When you are using a ranking poll, note that you can only set up a correct answer when you choose the 'Rank the choices in the correct order' option (not the rank in order by preference).
When setting up the choices, allocate the correct answer order next to the choice options.
You can also add a correct answer explanation should you wish. Vevox will set the number of allowed selections a participant can make to equal the number of choice options.
When the poll is closed, present view will first show the most common responses from all the participants.
And when the correct answer is revealed, it will show the correct order of the poll & correct answer explanation.
4. Correct answers in Numeric polls
When you want to set a correct answer in a numeric poll, toggle the 'set correct answer' to on. Now enter your correct number. For more information on setting up error margins & decimal places read this article. We advise that when you have a large data range, you choose the number cloud display instead of the column chart or ordered list. It is optional to add your correct answer explanation.
5. Correct answers in Text polls
For Text polls, you can set up one or more correct answers to account for variations in spelling. Case sensitivity is automatically ignored in Vevox, simplifying participant input. You can allocate up to 15 correct answer options, but it's advisable to keep them concise, preferably one or two words, as longer answers may reduce participant accuracy.
6. Scoring
When a correct answer is set, participants automatically earn 1 point for choosing it. With a Pro plan or higher, you can enable custom points and partial scoring, allowing participants to earn points even if their answers are only partially correct.
7. When using the dashboard to present:
After the polling results have been displayed to your participants there is the option to toggle the correct answer indicator on or off from the bottom of the question in the dashboard. This indicates which option is correct on all participant devices.
8. When using present view to present:
You can also decide to show the correct answers from the control bar in Present view. Or to just skip to the next poll.
9. Reporting when using correct answers:
In addition to indicating the correct answer on devices it is also possible to view the correct responses in the data report. A worksheet in the report keeps track of how many answers each participant has answered correctly. Check out the tab called 'Polling Results' for correct answers in live polls or 'Survey Results' for correct answers in survey questions.
10. Changing the correct answer
If you wish to modify, rearrange, or delete the correct answer, return to your response options through the 'Edit poll' feature. Click on the three dots next to the relevant option, and then choose to move the choice up or down the list or to delete it entirely.
