By using the Vevox Excel template, you can bulk import your Poll Everywhere activities. Once imported, they’ll appear in your Vevox dashboard, ready to run.
Whether your Poll Everywhere activities have already been activated or are still unused, you can export them into a report (with a paid Poll Everywhere plan) and then bring them across to Vevox.
Steps to convert Poll Everywhere activities & questions into Vevox
Step 1: Export your Poll Everywhere activities into Excel and save the file.
Step 2: Download the Vevox Excel template.
Step 3: Copy your Poll Everywhere activities into the Vevox template.
Step 4: Import the completed template into your Vevox session.
Vevox separates live polling, surveys, and Q&A into different areas. Each activity type needs to be imported into the correct section:
- All question activities for live polling - imported into Polls
- All Q&A activities - imported into Q&A
- All survey questions (for offline completion) – imported into Surveys
This is your easiest way to switch from Poll Everywhere and mass import your polls to Vevox. Alternatively, you can copy your Poll Everywhere activities individually and add them to the Vevox dashboard one by one.
Live Polling
Step 1: Export your Poll Everywhere activities in Excel and save it
Open the Reports menu and click ‘Create report’.
Choose ‘Executive summary’ as the report type and click ‘Continue’.
Select the folder or individual activities you want to export and click ‘Create report’.
A visual report will appear on the left. In the bottom-right corner, click ‘Download’ to export it as a CSV.
Find the file in your Downloads folder, open it in Excel, and save it in Excel format.
Step 2: Download the Vevox Excel template
From the Polls section of your Vevox dashboard, click ‘+Add content’.
Select ‘Import from a file’.
Choose Download sample template. This template is pre-formatted to match Vevox’s polling structure.
The file includes sample questions as examples. You can safely delete them—they’re just there to show the format. Use the Explanatory notes (second sheet) for guidance.
Step 3: Add your Poll Everywhere activities to the Vevox template
Paste your Poll Everywhere content into the Vevox template, following the structure provided.
Save your updated file.
Important differences to note:
- Format: Vevox lists each poll in a single row. Poll Everywhere’s executive summary spreads a single activity across multiple rows (e.g., one MCQ with five options = five rows). Carefully align your data when copying.

What to copy:
- Column A (question title) - paste into the Vevox “Title” column.
- Column B (choices/responses) - copy only the options (ignore totals/participants).
- Column C (question type) - use to check poll type (e.g., Word Cloud, MCQ). In the Vevox Excel ensure that if you paste a Word Cloud activity from Poll Everywhere, it should say Word cloud in column A in the Vevox file to identify the correct poll type.
- Column E (correct answers) - use to mark the correct response in Vevox.
- Only import live polling activities here (not Q&A or surveys).

Correct answers
In Poll Everywhere, only MCQs and competition activities can have correct answers. In Vevox, you can set correct answers across a wider range of poll types, including MCQ, Text, Ranking, and Numeric polls. -
Correct answer explanations
Poll Everywhere does not support explanations for correct answers. Vevox allows you to add them manually—either in the Excel import template or directly in the dashboard. This is especially useful for post-training assessments and questionnaires. Explanations can be added to any poll with a correct answer. If left blank in the Vevox import template, they will simply be ignored. -
Images
Images in titles or response/choice options, cannot be exported/imported via Excel. These must be manually added in Vevox.
Step 4: Import your activities to Vevox
From the polls section in your Vevox dashboard, click on ‘+Add content’.
Upload your filled-out Vevox Excel template to import your polls.
Your imported polls will now appear in the dashboard, ready to run.
If you receive a warning message correct your Excel sheet, save before uploading to the Vevox dashboard.
Once the Vevox template is imported, all questions/polls will be visible in a single Vevox session. No need to assign it to a group.
Running Polls in Vevox
You’ve successfully converted your Poll Everywhere activities to Vevox and can run your polls in Vevox. You can either run your polls directly from Present view (our audience display) or from the dashboard.
Surveys
Surveys allow participants to respond to a series of questions at their own pace (offline), unlike live polls.
- Vevox surveys support MCQs, text polls, ranking, rating, numeric, LaTeX, Pin on Image, and Pin on Choice polls. (Only Word Cloud and XY Plot require live polling.)
- Vevox surveys offers individual scoring and correct answer explanations (also called self paced quizzes).
Importing Poll Everywhere surveys into Vevox
Survey questions must be imported into the Survey section of Vevox. To move your Poll Everywhere survey questions across, follow steps 1–3 above for your survey questions, then continue with the instructions below. Use the same Vevox template for adding survey-only questions. You can also add extra survey types (e.g., ranking, numeric) as well as correct answers and explanations if needed.
Go to the Surveys Tab in the Vevox dashboard & Click ‘Import’ to open the upload menu.
Upload your Vevox Excel file - Use the completed Vevox Excel template to upload your Poll Everywhere survey questions.
Preview your imported questions - Once uploaded, a preview of the surveys to be imported will be displayed.
If you see a warning message, double-check your Excel file for formatting issues. Make any corrections, save the file, and re-upload it.
Confirm the Import – Click Import to finalize the process. The new survey will appear in your dashboard. From here you can still edit, move, duplicate or delete the questions in your survey.
Launch the survey- Start the survey to allow participants to respond.
If you also want to add images to your survey questions, you need to add them manually in the Vevox dashboard in the survey section.
Q&A
In Vevox, Q&A is treated as a stand-alone feature that participants can interact with through the dedicated Q&A board. Here, participants & hosts can:
- Upvote or downvote comments
- Filter & sort contributions
- Mark comments as favorites
- Reply to participants
- Moderate content if needed
If you don’t want to use the Q&A board and its features, you can import your Poll Everywhere Q&A as a text poll in the live polling section (participants can respond with up to 2000 characters). Or simply create it manually in the Vevox dashboard.
Converting Poll Everywhere Q&A to Vevox Q&A
The simplest way to transfer your Poll Everywhere Q&A is to use announcements within Vevox. Announcements let you send a question to participants, who can then respond publicly on the Q&A board.
Only one announcement can be active at a time, as Q&A runs in a live environment.
How to publish Q&A announcements
From the Q&A section in the Vevox dashboard, click Manage & publish announcements.
Copy your Q&A text from the Poll Everywhere report (see Step 1) and paste it where it says Publish your first announcement. Then click Publish. Your question/announcement will now be live on the Q&A board.
To add more announcements, paste additional Q&A questions and press the + sign. They will be saved, ready for you to publish later.
Announcements can be edited, unpublished, or deleted at any time.
