- Adding sound to your presentation in Present view
1. Start your poll
You can launch a poll by clicking the play button. If you have not asked any polls yet, Present view will start from the Q&A board and then open your poll.
2. Stop your poll
You can close a poll by clicking the stop button. Keep an eye out for the counter in the top right corner and wait till the majority of your results are in before closing.
3. Continue on to the next poll
Jump straight to the next poll. Once you've run your first poll of the session, your subsequent polls will appear ready for you to hit play again. You can control the speed at which the polls are asked and guide the conversation as the session progress.
4. Hide/display your voting results
The default set up in Vevox is that all results will automatically be displayed on poll close. This feature is helpful if you want to stop the audience from being swayed by other answers in multichoice polls or quizzes or if you have a particularly sensitive question to ask and do not want to reveal the answer. If you would like to hide the results of the specific poll, press the hide results option in the control bar. All voting results will be hidden and the display will revert back to the Q&A board.
You can also change the default settings so that no voting results will appear automatically on poll close. Go to the settings menu in your dashboard and under the features tab, turn the default setting off. Press the 'Save' button.
5. See what the next poll is without changing browser windows
Hovering over the question in the control bar will bring up a pop-up window showing where you are in your session. This will give a quick glance at what polls have been asked, what polls have results, and what poll is up next. (Look at the small icon next to each question.)
When you click next to the pop-up window, it will disappear again.
6. Skip a few polls
You can also decide to jump a poll(s) and by selecting the secondary play option next to the new poll you want to ask. Remember this can only be done after a poll has been closed and the results are displayed. In this example you asked poll number 3, it has some results and you are jumping straight to poll number 6.
7. Reopen a poll
Closed the poll too quickly, or would you like to explain the question again before asking? A 'Reopen' button will appear on the left of the control bar. Select it and your poll will automatically open up again. Participants who have already answered the poll, will see their previous selection on the participant device. They can keep it the same or clear their vote and vote again. Participants who had not yet voted will also be able to cast their vote.
8. Cancel a poll
It has always been possible to cancel a poll from your Vevox dashboard but to help you save time (and change browser windows), you can now cancel polls from Present View too.
When you cancel a poll before you have received any votes:
When hovering over the control bar, select the cancel button (an X icon) to skip the question. The Present view will revert back to the Q&A board.
When you cancel a poll after you have received some votes:
When hovering over the control bar, select the cancel button (a bin icon) to skip the question. It will indicate that your votes already received will be lost. The Present view will revert back to the Q&A board.
Now that the poll is canceled, you can:
- Use the Play button to open the same poll
- Or skip this poll entirely - read point 6 above.
9. Use a countdown timer
To use a default 10 second countdown timer, press the 'start timer' button. You can pause the timer or add more time as well. The poll will close automatically when the timer reaches zero. Read this article for more details.
10. Show the correct answer
Once you have closed the poll, you can reveal the correct answer (if it was set up previously) by simply clicking the 'correction mark'.
11. Show the leaderboard
You can show a leaderboard anytime during your session when you have set up correct answers in your session. Simply press the 'display leaderboard' button on the left. A summary leaderboard will appear on the present view while an individual leaderboard will appear on participant devices. Note: No leaderboard icon will show if you have not set up any correct answers in your meeting.
When you click on the 'Full list' option the individual names will appear as well. If it is an anonymous session, no names will appear.
12. Switch to the Q&A board while a live poll is open
This feature allows participants to ask and view questions in the Q&A board whilst a poll remains open. Press the shortcut from your control bar to immediately move to the Q&A message board in Present view. It will display what is already on the Q&A board. (Note: Participant devices will stay on the open poll). You can address the crucial issues from here before moving on to the next poll.
While you are on the Q&A board there will be an indication at the top that a poll is still open as well as a shortcut to go back to the live polling.
13. Go fullscreen
This shortcut allows the presenter to enter and exit full screen.
14. Additional functionality
The Control bar also offers additional functions when you press the options menu (three dots) next to the question. From here you can either:
- customize your theme,
- You also have the option to use the dashboard view to clear results, launch new polls & push results to participants.
15. Enlarge or hide a comment/question in the Q&A board
To focus or highlight a specific comment or idea, simply click on the comment to enlarge it. To return it to its original size, click anywhere on the Present view. If you'd like to remove a comment from the Q&A board, use the 'hide' icon shortcut. You can also display any replies to the comment before archiving it. (Note: All comments and questions will still be included in the data report, even if they’re removed from the Q&A board).
16. When the control bar disappears from view
The control bar will automatically disappear from view if it is inactive to give a clearer view of the polling. To activate it again, just hover over any part of Present view and it will appear again.
Emma shows us how to set up your first polls as well as present them to your participants.

17. Adding sound to your presentation in Present view
Are you wanting to create a richer audio experience or link a song to a poll?
When using the countdown timer, you can add sound to the timer - there are 6 different sounds to choose from. When wanting to use your own songs or sounds, there is no specific functionality to add sound clips to your polls in Present view when you are presenting. But as Present view is operated by sharing your screen with participants, it is possible to play an audio clip in Spotify, YouTube, Google Drive, or any other audio file in the background while your poll is still open.
We recommend presenting from another computer (where you can operate the sound files from) by manually selecting the audio file as soon as the poll has been opened. Tip: Ensure the sound clip is short or less than 30 seconds. See Option 3 under the presenting options.
