Make your session stand out
Create a unique and memorable class, event, meeting or workshop by tailoring the Participant App and Present View to match your company or intuition branding or display your personal style.
In this article we cover:
This feature is only available to Pro, Enterprise & Institution plans. Do you want to upgrade?
A. Customize the Vevox App
Customizing the Vevox participant app lets you set your session's branding and design. The two primary customizable areas are the Info Screen and the App Theme.
1. Update the Info Screen
The Info Screen, or home screen, is the first thing participants see when they join your session. You can personalize it with a custom image, agenda, or message.
Steps to update the Info Screen:
Open your session and click ‘Settings’ in the navigation menu.
Select the ‘App customization’ section. From here, you can:
- Upload a JPEG, PNG, or GIF by dragging it in or clicking the pencil icon. Alternatively, select one from the Free Unsplash Image Library.
- Add text to the screen using the rich text editor, which supports styling with headers, colors, fonts, links, bullet points and even emojis 😃 😎 🥊 💡 🛵
- Press the 'Save' button to lock in place your changes. The participant app will update with the new image and text instantly.
Use the shortcut CMD + CTRL + Space on Mac or on a Windows machine use the Windows key + period button (.) to insert emojis. 😂🕺😎🦥🏄♂️📚
Images Size recommendations:
There is no definitive image size requirement, as images are automatically scaled for the best fit. However, we recommend:
Image Type | Recommended Size | Description |
Banner Images |
1440px x 622px (2.32:1 ratio) |
Displays an image at the top of the screen with agenda & session details below. |
Portrait Images | 800px x 1100px | Ideal for taking up more screen space, embedding text or instructions directly. |
2. Choose Your App Theme
Make the participant experience unique by selecting two color options:
- Primary color: Used as the main color in the participant app (top banner, icons etc).
- Secondary color: Used for highlights in the participant app (e.g., poll results, bar colors & announcements in the Q&A board).
Click on the color options, enter HTML code or use the eye dropper. Press ‘Save’ to apply changes instantly.
If needed, you can reset the app colors back to Vevox's default settings
B. Customize Present view
The Present View is displayed to your audience during live sessions. You can personalize the Logo, use Pre-set themes, Colors, Background Image, and Voting Results Labels.
1. Adding a logo
The logo is the image that appears on the left of Present view above the joining instructions. We recommend an image ratio of 1.15:1, an example of this would be 310px wide x 270px high.
Steps to change the logo:
Open your session and click ‘Settings’ in the navigation menu.
Select the ‘Present view’ section.
Upload a JPEG, PNG, or GIF by dragging it in or clicking the pencil icon. Alternatively, use an image from the Free Unsplash Image Library. Save your changes.
If you prefer to have no logo, delete the current one and press 'Save'. To restore the logo again, use the circle with arrow icon.
2. Pre-designed themes templates
Choose from a variety of stunning Vevox pre-set background themes and color templates for your audience display.
Steps to apply a theme:
Open Settings and select Present View.
Under ‘Theme’, click Preset.
Use the arrows to browse available themes like Light, Circuit, Lava, Gloworm, Nightsky, and more.
Click the desired theme and press 'Save'.
3. Use Your Own Background Image
A custom background image changes the overall look of Present View during Q&A sessions, live polls, and result displays. The ideal image size depends on the screen you’ll be displaying it on. For most users, the easiest and quickest option is to use an image that is 1920px wide by 1080px high.
Steps to upload a background image:
Open Settings and select Present View.
Click Custom.
Click Background Image and upload a JPEG, PNG, or GIF. Alternatively, choose an image from the Free Unsplash Image Library.
Press 'Save'.
Present view will automatically update with the new background.
Since most laptops, TVs, and projectors use a 16:9 resolution, we recommend using images that match these dimensions.
Common 16:9 screen sizes:
- 3840×2160 (Ultra-HD 4K)
- 2560×1440 (2K)
- 1920×1080 (1080p Full-HD)
- 1600×900
- 1366×768
- 1280×720 (720p HD)
We never stretch or distort images you upload.
- If your image is smaller than the screen, it may lose quality when expanded.
- If your image is larger, it will be scaled down, which typically doesn’t affect quality.
If you delete the background image and press Save, the Present View background will revert to the Background Color.
4. Adjusting colors and joining instructions
Customize colors or reset them to the default theme.
- Background color: Used as the background color in Present View if no background image is set.
- Highlight color: Used for poll result bars, response counters, correct answer highlights, and Q&A board announcements.
- Join instruction Text color: Select Dark or Light to adjust the text and Session ID color (the default is white) to ensure they are legible and contrast well with your color theme. These settings let you override the default and customize the text color to match your preferences.
5. Choosing whether to display joining instructions & response count
To make it easy for participants to join a Vevox session, the joining instructions and QR code are enabled by default and will appear in Present View.
In the Additional Settings, you can choose to hide the joining instructions, QR code, and response count, which shows how many participants are logged in and have voted.
6. Voting result labels
Decide how voting results are displayed in Present View. Labels appear next to the voting result bars and can be shown in four formats:
-
-
- % - Display votes as a percentage (default).
- 123 - Display the actual number of votes.
- % (123) - Display percentage followed by the actual number.
- 123 (%) - Display actual number followed by the percentage.
-
Steps to change voting result labels:
Open Settings and go to the ‘Polling’ section.
Select a format from the drop-down menu.
Press ‘Save’ to apply changes.
Example 1 shows the number of votes as a percentage. This is the default setting:
Example 2 shows the actual number of votes followed by the number of votes as a percentage:
C. Custom settings for individual polls
For more flexibility, you can configure poll-specific settings when creating a new poll. This allows you to override default session settings. Read more in our help article on configuring poll-specific settings.
