This feature is only available to Pro, Enterprise & Institution plans. Do you want to upgrade?
A. Customizing the Vevox App
Customizing the Vevox participant app lets you set your session's branding and design. The two primary customizable areas are the Info Screen and the App Theme.
1. Info screen
The Info Screen, or home screen, is the first thing participants see when they join your session. You can personalize it with a custom image, agenda, or message.
To update the Info Screen:
Open your session and click ‘Settings’ in the navigation menu.
Navigate to the ‘Setup’ tab.
In the Participant App Setup section:
- Upload a JPEG, PNG, or GIF by dragging it in or clicking the pencil icon.
- Add text to the screen using the rich text editor, which supports styling with headers, colors, fonts, links, bullet points and even emojis 😃 😎 🥊 💡 🛵
- Press the 'Save' button to lock in place your changes. The participant app will update with the new image and text instantly.
Use the shortcut CMD + CTRL + Space on Mac or on a Windows machine use the Windows key + period button (.) to insert emojis. 😂🕺😎🦥🏄♂️📚
Images Size recommendations:
When it comes to the correct size for an image on the info screen there is no definitive answer, you can use any size you like. We will automatically scale the image for a best fit on device displays. Here are some of our recommendations.
- Banner Images: Use a 2.32:1 ratio (e.g., 1440px x 622px) to display an image at the top of the screen with the agenda or session details below it.
- Portrait Images: Ideal for taking up more space on the screen. Use dimensions of 800px x 1100px for embedding text or instructions directly in the image.
2. App theme
The App Theme deals with the colors used in the app. There are two different colors that you can set;
- Main color - this color is used as the primary color in participant apps (and the background in Present view if you do not set a background image).
- Highlight color - this color is used as your secondary color in participant app (and present view e.g. results or bar colors).
To select your custom colors for the app theme do the following:
Go to the 'Theme tab' under settings.
Choose the 'Custom' option under Theme and Customization. You can now select the main color as well as the highlight color. Select the colors you want to use with the color picker.
Under Instruction Text, select Dark or Light to adjust the text and Session ID color (the default is white) to ensure they are legible and contrast well with your color theme. These settings let you override the default and customize the text color to match your preferences.
Press the 'Save' button to lock in place your changes.
B. Customizing the Present view
The Present View is displayed to your audience during live sessions. You can personalize the Logo, use Pre-set themes, Colors, Background Image, and Voting Results Labels.
1. Logo
The logo is the image that appears on the left of Present view above the joining instructions.
To update the Present View logo:
Open the session settings and go to the ‘Theme’ tab.
Use the pencil icon to upload a JPE or PNG or select a logo from the Unsplash library.
Save your changes.
2. Pre-designed themes templates
When you select the 'Themes' option, you can choose from a variety of stunning Vevox pre-set background themes and color templates, including options like Light Themes, Circuit, Lava, Gloworm, Nightsky, and more.
3. Colors
When you select the custom option, the colors chosen in the participant app theme automatically apply to the Present view for consistency. As would the instruction text.
4. Background image
Adding a background image changes the overall look of the Present view during the Q&A session, live polls and results being displayed.
From the Theme tab and click the pencil icon next to the ‘Background Image’.
Upload a JPEG, PNG, or GIF, or select a free image from the Unsplash library.
If you delete the background image completely the Present view background color image will revert to the main color selected.
Present view will automatically update with the new background.
5. Voting result labels
Another way to customize your Vevox session is to decide how to display the voting result labels. This label appears next to the voting result bars and can be displayed in one of four ways:
- % - Showing the number of votes as a percentage (default)
- 123 - Showing the actual number of votes.
- % (123) - Showing the number of votes as a percentage followed by the actual number of votes.
- 123 (%) - Showing the actual number of votes followed by the number of votes as a percentage.
Example 1 shows the number of votes as a percentage. This is the default setting:
Example 2 shows the actual number of votes:
Example 3 shows the number of votes as a percentage followed by the actual number of votes:
Example 4 shows the actual number of votes followed by the number of votes as a percentage:
To change the voting result labels display, do the following:
