Did you know you can repurpose your polls by importing them into a survey? This allows you to reuse questions without recreating them from scratch. You can also check out our ready-to-use sample surveys to get started or re-use polls from your question library.
Polls vs. Surveys – What’s the Difference?
- Polls happen in real-time during live events, meetings, or classes. Participants vote using their mobile devices while following the presentation on a big screen or computer.
- Surveys allow participants to answer questions at their own pace. These do not require a live session and can be available for hours or even days.
Surveys are sometimes used during a live event when participants must complete a self-paced or offline questionnaire.
Exporting Polls
To import a poll into a survey, you first need to export it as a Vevox import file (a ZIP folder).
How to Export a Poll:
Go to the Polls section in the navigation menu.
Select the poll(s) to export by checking the box next to each one.
Click ‘Export’ at the top of the poll list.
A ZIP file will be downloaded to your device, containing all poll data and images.
You can export multiple polls at once, and they will be stored in a single file. If you want them in separate files, export them one at a time. These Zip files can also be shared with colleagues and other Vevox users.
Importing Polls into a Survey
Once you’ve exported your polls, follow these steps to import them into a survey:
Create a new session and name it.
Navigate to the Survey section.
Click the ‘Import’ button.
A pop-up will appear asking you to select a file. Browse for your Vevox import file (ZIP folder) and upload it.
A warning message will confirm that you're importing polls into a survey.
Preview the polls to be imported and make make changes to your selection by clicking on the tick box next to each poll.
Press ‘Import’ to finalize the process.
Starting the Survey:
Before participants can respond, you must start the session. Click either ‘Start Session’ or ‘Start Survey’ when prompted.
Once you’ve collected all responses, remember to Stop the survey before requesting the data report. No further responses will be accepted after stopping the survey.
- Only blank polls will be imported—no previous data responses.
- If your imported polls have correct answers assigned, the system will convert them into a quiz within the survey. The ‘Start Survey’ button will change to ‘Start Quiz’.
This process makes it easy to reuse and repurpose your polls, whether for real-time engagement or self-paced surveys.
