There are two options when it comes to managing your Q&A board.
You can have Moderation OFF - When you want to let your audience speak their minds freely without censorship. Leaving the moderation off means as soon as a participant sends a message it will appear straight away for everyone to see.
Or Moderation ON - Offering greater control over what content you allow your participants to see. Moderation on means that every message sent by a participant will require a review process before the message is made available for people to see.
The difference you'll see on your dashboard is the number of message lists you get to play with.
Moderation OFF gives you 2 simple lists:
Published - these are the messages that all your participants can currently see. When a new message is sent it automatically comes here.
Archive - these are messages that have been received but you have chosen to hide from view. Maybe it's not related to the topic of discussion or perhaps it's a question you've already answered.
Moderation ON gives you 4 lists:
Needs Review - this is where all new messages will appear when sent in by participants. This is the first step of the review process where you can decide what to do with the message safe in the knowledge your participants can't see it yet.
Reviewed - this is an optional second step in the review process. Messages can be placed here if you want a second person involved in the review process. Messages that are off topic can be filtered in the first step so the second reviewer only gets to see relevant messages.
Published - these are the messages that all your participants can see. If you approve of a message that you want to let your participants see this is where to send it.
Archive- these are message that have been received but you have chosen to hide from view. Maybe it's not related to the topic of discussion or perhaps it's a question you've already answered.
Tip: Using the 'Reviewed' list is a great way to manage sessions when there are multiple people involved in message management. The person hosting the session has a lot to do without worrying about moderating the messages. They can have their own view of the dashboard just focusing on the reviewed list so they don't get distracted with too many questions or comments.
Moving messages between the different lists is something we've worked on. Lots of you fed back that you like to use this feature on a tablet so you can manage messages whilst being mobile so we tweaked or interface to make it touch screen friendly.
There are two ways to move messages between lists and it boils down to if you are just moving one message at a time or you want to move multiple messages all at once.
One at a time
Every message has quick action buttons to move a message with just one press. The icons relate to the different lists available. Press the one you want and quick as a flash the message will move to it's new home.
Multiple messages at once
If your message board is just too popular you might want to do a bulk action and move lots of messages at one time. In this case just select the messages you want to move by pressing the check box next to each one. You might want to select all the messages in the list so in this case just press 'Select all'.
Now you'll see an arrow icon appear alongside all the different lists, just press one next to the list of your choice and the messages will move to the new list in an instant.
There is also a 'Delete' option so you can get rid of messages once and for all but be warned, if you delete it then it's gone forever. Maybe it's safest to store it in the archive folder for now.
