1. Why use labels?
Labels make it easier to moderate and manage your Q&A board by organizing comments based on topics or speakers. In Q&A sessions with a large volume of questions, labels help group responses for specific topics or panelists.
Key Features of Labels:
- Create lists for individual speakers or topics.
- Customize visibility: Keep labels private to the host or make them visible to participants.
- Can be used with or without moderation enabled.
- Labels can be up to 20 characters long.
Labels are available for Pro, Enterprise & Institution plans. Do you want to upgrade?
Labels can be used with or without moderation turned ON.
2. How to create labels
You can create labels before your Q&A session starts or during the session itself.
Steps to Create Labels (with Moderation ON):
Open the Q&A menu in your dashboard.
Click the Labels icon.
In the pop-up menu, type the label name in the ‘+ Create new’ field and click the checkmark.
Repeat for additional labels (up to 20).
You can edit or delete labels at any time through the Manage Labels option.
3. Adding or Removing Labels on a Q&A Comment
After creating labels, you can assign them to comments:
In your dashboard, click the label icon next to a comment. A dropdown list of all the labels will appear.
Select the checkbox next to the desired label to apply it to the comment. The label will then appear beneath the comment.
Multiple labels can be assigned to one comment.
To remove a label, uncheck its box.
4. Making labels visible to participants
This feature lets participants add predefined labels to their comments.
By default, labels are visible only to you as the host. In certain situations, you might want to make specific labels—or all of them—visible to participants, allowing them to assign a label when submitting their questions or comments.
For this session, we want participants to be able to use the "Ideas" and "Inclusivity" labels.
Steps to enable participants to view and apply a labels:
- Click the eye icon next to a label to make it visible to participants. To hide it, click the eye icon again.
- Only labels made visible by the host will appear in the participant app.
Participant Guidelines for Using Labels:
- The participant app will only display labels that the host has made visible.
- Participants can add one label to their comment before submitting the comment by pressing ‘Send’.
- They cannot create new labels.
- Once submitted, participants cannot edit labels.
- During a session, the host can toggle label visibility for participants on or off as needed. Hosts can also remove any labels added by participants directly from the dashboard.
- If the host has not created any labels or made them visible to participants, the option to add a label will not be available in the participant app.
Tip for Hosts:
When Moderation is ON, hosts must move Q&A comments to the Published list for them to appear in the participant app or Present view. Comments in the Needs Review or Reviewed lists are visible only to the moderator in the dashboard. For additional review before publishing, move comments to the Reviewed list first.
With Moderation OFF, Q&A comments will automatically appear in the participant app and Present view without needing manual approval.
For example, with moderation enabled, a participant's comment remains unpublished until the host moves it from the Needs Review list to the Published list. Once the Unpublished tag disappears from the participant app, the comment becomes visible in Present view and on all participant screens.
Labels added by participants will be marked with a phone icon in the dashboard, while labels added by the host will not have any icon.
5. Filtering the Q&A Board
To display a list showing only Q&A comments with specific labels, you need to filter the list first.
Method 1. How to filter the Q&A board in the Dashboard
Click the Filter option in the Q&A board.
Select one or more labels to display comments.
Example: To see only comments for “Sarah,” select the Sarah label. This list can be shared with the panelist to prepare for her speaker slot.
Remove filters by clicking the X next to the label.
Note: Filtered lists in the dashboard are visible only to the host.
To view all Q&A comments labeled as Sarah AND Inclusivity, select both labels in the filter options. The resulting display list will include all comments with either the Sarah label, the Inclusivity label, or both.
Method 2. Filtering in Present View
In Present view, click the Filter button at the top right of the screen above the comments.
Choose one or more labels from the dropdown menu.
Selected labels will appear blue with a tick next to it.
If you hover over the ‘Filter’ button again, it will indicate how many comments are now displayed with what filters.
In this example, the Q&A board contains a total of 16 comments, but only 6 are currently displayed in Present View. These comments are filtered by the Ideas or CEO labels and are sorted by most likes.
To remove the filters, click on the X next to the label name again, and they will be removed.
6. Sorting a filtered list
Remember: After a list has been filtered (according to a label), it can still be sorted by:
- Dashboard: Most recent, oldest, or most liked.
- Present view: Most recent or most liked.
7. Sharing Filtered Display Lists
Filtered lists can be shared with moderators or speakers. To create a filtered display list:
Click the Share icon and select ‘Create New’.
Choose the Message list (e.g., Published) and set sorting preferences (e.g., oldest first).
Apply filters for specific labels.
(Optional) Add a passcode for security.
Save the list.
The saved list will appear in your Create New options. You can share it via:
- QR code
- Link (email, chat apps, etc.)
In our example, our comments are already in the published list as we have moved it there before. So, we select it again. We want to sort it according to oldest first. Then will filter all the comments in the publish list so that we only have comments related to the CEO. The bold text will indicate that it comes from the published list, that it is showing the oldest message first and that it is filtered by the CEO label.
You can create as many individual lists as needed. In this example, it will be good to create another list for Sarah and one for Senior Management and share it with them individually.
You can delete a list when no longer needed by clicking the three dots next to it.
8. Filtering Q&A comments by favorites and labels
Favorite Q&A messages are a quick and handy way for the moderator to identify participants' best questions/ comments. . Combine favorites with labels to create a refined list of the best comments for a specific topic or person.
After you have favorited the comments and added labels, you can create a new list to show only the best comments related to a specific subject or person.
Remember: A display list will show only comments that are both favorited and assigned the chosen label.
